Saving money to travel

Traveling is an amazing experience and anyone can do it! But the two biggest factors allowing us to do this are time and money. Money is the harder of the two to come by, and if you ask anyone that's traveled they saved prior to their travels and even perhaps worked whilst they traveled taking up odd jobs along the way. At Uncharted Travel we've put together some factors that will start you in the right direction to saving enough money to help you fund your adventures be it big or small.

Firstly, you need to create a plan on how your going to save. You need to assess your situation, is your trip going to be feasible with your financial situation? Once you have an overall idea of the costs needed start setting goals for yourself, long term goals are good but its important to have goals along the way to keep you motivated. Once your plan is in place its time for action!

A big expenditure is eating out, even though its hassle free and tastes fantastic, eating out costs can add up significantly. Starting to cook from home will save you a significant amount of money and its very easy to do!

Another big expense is using your car too much, start to reduce or even eliminate your car usage. Petrol and insurance are very costly by themselves along with the cars up keep. You could even consider selling your car to help meet your target more quickly. Purchasing a bike is a good way to save money, keep fit and mobile. You could also consider canceling your gym membership as being more mobile by physical means will help you keep fit. Two birds with one stone!

Smoking has become increasingly expensive over the years, smoking can save you well in the thousands in some cases as well as bringing huge health benefits to your life. Whilst doing this you could also consider drinking less, going out drinking is very expensive and adds up overtime with only a headache in the morning to show for it, instead maybe consider inviting friends over? Drinking at home is a lot cheaper than buying drinks in bars and clubs. But don't become a social hermit or a party pooper, you can still save for your travels and let loose every once in a while.

Finally, just use you common sense. Do you really need that overpriced cup of coffee from Starbucks or a fancy jacket from a high end fashion brand when you could maybe buy one second hand? Everything you do adds up, you can reach your travel goal fast or slow but ultimately its up to you!
